- Mars Climate Orbiter (1999): Unsuccessful Mars orbiter; guidance calculation failure during Mars orbital insertion, vehicle disintegrated.
- Mars Polar Lander (1999): Unsuccessful Mars lander; descent engine failure during Mars landing, vehicle crashed.
